Privacy Policy

How we handle your information - straight up, no corporate jargon

Last updated: January 2024

Look, we get it - nobody actually enjoys reading privacy policies. But since you're here, we'll keep this real and straightforward. At Ignis Thalquorix Architecture, we're not in the business of selling your data or doing anything sketchy with your information. We're architects who occasionally need some personal details to do our job properly.

1

What We Actually Collect

When you reach out to us or fill out a contact form, we'll grab the basics - your name, email, phone number, and whatever details you share about your project. If you're already a client, we'll have more info like your property address, project specifications, and any design preferences you've mentioned during our meetings.

We also collect some technical stuff automatically when you browse our site - things like your IP address, browser type, and which pages you visited. Pretty standard web analytics, nothing invasive.

2

Why We Need Your Info

Here's the deal - we use your information to actually work with you. That means responding to your inquiries, sending project proposals, scheduling site visits, and keeping you updated on your project's progress. We might also send you occasional updates about our studio or relevant industry insights, but only if you're cool with that.

Sometimes we'll use anonymized data to understand how people interact with our website - helps us figure out if our portfolio's loading too slow or if our contact form's giving people trouble.

And yeah, there's legal stuff too. We need to keep certain records for regulatory compliance and professional liability purposes. Architecture's a regulated profession in Canada, so we've got obligations to meet.

3

Who Gets to See Your Data

We don't sell your information. Period. That's not our business model and honestly it's pretty gross when companies do that.

Your info stays within our studio team unless there's a legitimate reason to share it. Sometimes we work with contractors, engineers, or consultants on projects - in those cases, we'll share relevant details but only what's necessary to get the job done right.

We use some third-party services - email hosting, project management software, cloud storage - and they'll have access to certain data. We're careful about who we work with though, and we make sure they're respecting privacy standards too.

4

Cookies & Tracking

Yeah, we use cookies - not the chocolate chip kind, unfortunately. They help our site remember your preferences and let us see how people use our website. Most are harmless session cookies that disappear when you close your browser. You can disable them in your browser settings if you want, though some features might not work as smoothly.

5

Your Rights

You've got rights when it comes to your personal data. You can ask us what info we have on you, request corrections if something's wrong, or ask us to delete your data entirely. Want to take your data elsewhere? We can provide it in a portable format. Just shoot us an email and we'll sort it out.

6

How We Protect Your Information

We take security seriously - encrypted connections, secure servers, regular backups, the whole nine yards. Our team's trained on data protection, and we limit access to personal information on a need-to-know basis.

That said, no system's perfect. While we do everything reasonable to protect your data, we can't guarantee absolute security. If there's ever a breach that affects your information, we'll let you know promptly and tell you what we're doing about it.

7

How Long We Keep Your Data

For active projects, we'll keep your information for as long as we're working together plus several years afterward - mainly for warranty purposes and professional liability requirements. In Ontario, architects need to maintain certain records for up to ten years after project completion.

If you reached out but didn't end up working with us, we'll typically keep your inquiry for a couple years in case you circle back. After that, we'll delete it unless there's a specific reason to retain it.

8

International Data Transfers

We're based in Toronto and primarily serve Canadian clients, so your data generally stays in Canada. Some of our service providers might have servers in the US or elsewhere, but we make sure they meet adequate privacy standards. Canada's got pretty solid privacy laws (PIPEDA, if you're curious), and we comply with those requirements.

9

Changes to This Policy

We might update this privacy policy from time to time - usually when we add new services or if regulations change. When we do, we'll update the date at the top and post the revised version here.

For minor changes, we'll just update the page. If it's something significant that affects how we handle your data, we'll shoot you an email if you're an active client.

Questions or Concerns?

If something in this policy doesn't make sense, or if you've got questions about how we're handling your information, just reach out. We're real people here and we'll give you straight answers.
